Kayley Dresback led the Buena Vista women's basketball team on Saturday with 13 points, and
Danika Demers had a double-double, but the Beavers fell short to the Kohawks of Coe College, 71-61.
Dresback went 4-for-7 overall from the field, going 2-for-3 from deep and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. Demers had 11 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. She went 4-for-8 overall, 2-for-3 from long range and 1-for-2 from the line.
Lindsey Anhalt contributed 10 points for the Beavers.Â
Coe led the Beavers 18-15 at the end of the first and extended the lead to 49-28 at half. The Beavers finished with a strong fourth quarter, outscoring the Kohawks 18-4, but it was not enough for the Beavers to take the lead.Â
Kaalyn Peterson led the Kohawks (16-6, 8-5 A-R-C) with a double-double as well, going 8-for-11 overall, going 3-for-6 from the line. She had 19 points and 12 rebounds. Alyse Southard had 14 points, and following closely behind was Molly Buck with 12 points. Southard went 5-for-8 overall and Buck went 4-for-6 overall.Â
The Beavers (6-15, 1-11 A-R-C) are set to play at Simpson College on Wednesday February 8 at 5:30 pm.Â
