CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Dec. 2, 2023) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team played its first conference road game of the season on Saturday afternoon at Coe College but were handed a tough 92-49 loss inside Kohawk Arena.
Sophomore Abby Nagel led the way for the Beavers with a career-high 10 points and four steals. Freshman Allie Leisher followed with nine points and three steals with Jenna Hallock chipping in with eight points and a team-leading seven rebounds.
BVU was held to just eight first-half field goals while shooting 25 percent from the field overall. The Kohawks, meanwhile, made 11 field goals in the second quarter alone and shot nearly 70 percent which helped them build a commanding 51-22 halftime advantage.
Coe, which led wire-to-wire in the game, continued to sizzle to start the second half, shooting 67 percent in the third quarter while scoring 12 more field goals.
The Beavers had their best shooting quarter to close out the game, making six field goals and shooting 40 percent from the field. They finished the game at 30 percent overall, including 4-of-19 from downtown.
Taylor Brunson led five players in double figures for Coe (5-2, 1-2 A-R-C), scoring a game-high 19 points.
Buena Vista dips to 1-4 overall (0-2 A-R-C) and travels to the University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Monday, Dec. 4, for a 6:30 p.m. non-conference game against the Eagles.
