C-M-S held BVU to only nine first half field goals and 25.7 percent shooting overall. The Stags, meanwhile, came out strong with a 5-of-10 effort from downtown and a 59.4 percent showing overall over the first 20 minutes. The game was tied at 5-5 in the early going before C-M-S went on a 16-5 run to build its first double-digit advantage.
Isaiah Adams made a layup late in the half to pull BVU back within 31-22, but that was the last time the Beavers were within 10 points in the contest. The Stags closed the half on a 13-2 surge to build a 44-24 margin.
The Stags (5-4) continued it strong shooting over the second half, maintaining the 20-point cushion throughout the half. The team again shot over 50 percent, despite making just 3-of-10 from distance. BVU again couldn't buy a basket from long distance, going 3-of-14 in the half and finishing the day by going 7-of-33 (21.2 percent).
Both teams finished with only 10 turnovers in the contest and each scored 28 points in the paint. C-M-S went 8-of-20 from beyond the arc but would finish the game making 11 more field goals than the Beavers.
Buena Vista dips to 7-4 overall and looks to get back into the win column when it continues the West Coast trip on Tuesday, Dec. 19, by playing at Caltech (1-8). Tip-off for that match-up is set for 4 p.m. CST (2 p.m. PST).
