The Eagles dropped in a three-pointer in the opening seconds and led for the first seven minutes of the game until a made jumper from Sievers put BVU on top for the first time at 13-12. BVU never trailed again and used a big 28-5 run that covered seven minutes and led 39-17 with 6:55 left in the opening half.
BVU led by as much as 26 late in the half before a late three-point bucket by Faith Baptist made it 54-31 Beavers at the break. The Eagles finished 6-of-17 from downtown in the opening half but would cool off to only 2-of-9 in the second. BVU, meanwhile, sizzled at 60 percent shooting over the first 20 minutes, making 21-of-35 overall and 8-of-19 from distance.
That efficiency carried over for much of the second half for Buena Vista, as the team added seven more made three-point treys and shot 51.6 percent from the field overall in the half.
A total of 14 different players scored at least two points for the Beavers with eight of those posting at least six. The 110 points scored is the team's second-highest output this season.
