DIKE, Iowa (Sept. 4, 2022) - Freshman
Brooke Stellmaker turned in a 36-hole total of 169 and tied for 36th to lead the Buena Vista women's golf team during its season-opening competition at the Norse/Kohawk Inviational., hosted by both Luther College and Coe College.
Stellmaker, playing her first two collegiate rounds, fired an 86 and 83, respectively. Fellow freshman
Hailey Bistodeau also had a solid debut with rounds of 84 and 87 to tie for 44th.
Cara Kempadoo and
Emily Powers each finished with 36-hole totals of 177 with Powers firing a career-low round of 87 on Sunday.
Katelyn Nielsen rounded out the line-up at 187.
Central College's Delaney Underwood carded a final round of 3-under 69 and took medalist honors by four strokes over teammate Thea Lunning and Grinnell College's Mary Li. A total of 75 golfers took part in the event which was won by Grinnell at 602. Central was runner-up and just two strokes back at 604.
The Beavers will be right back out on the course next weekend at the Wartburg College Fall Invite on Saturday and Sunday.
