SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Sept. 3, 2022) - The Buena Vista University Cross Country teams both traveled here to start off the season competing in the Augustana Twilight which consited of several Division I and II teams from the Midwest. The men competed against 31 other teams, placing 17^th, and the women placed 26^th out of 28 total teams.
 
Kyle Miller finished first amongst the men with a personal record for his 4-mile time of 20:53.29, placing 85^th overall. Miller currently holds the 8k record time of 25:38 and is a junior leader this year.
 
"This year, we had four guys run faster than our first guy did last year, along with multiple freshmen showing their true potential," Miller proudly said afer their performances. "We all have high goals for ourselves this year and are hoping to change the narrative of BVU Cross Country."
 
The other men who scored at the Twilight meet were Kaden Sadler with a time of 21:21.59, Colin Imhoff with a time of 21:45.21, John Flaws coming in at 21:49.93, and Dylan Austad finishing at 22:13.98. The men improved their average time of 21:36 in comparison to last year which was a time of 22:22 for the season opener.
 
For the women's side, Latrice Hodges, came across the finish line first with a time of 20:53.29, placing 139^th out of 313 in the 5k. As Hodges has decided to come back for a fifth year of cross country and said, "I'm excited and looking forward to having a good season this year. I can't believe that this is actually my last year of collegiate running. Running has had a big impact on my life and it's one of the reasons. I chose to continue to run for another year."
 
The remaining women who scored on Friday were Madilyn Simon with a time of 21:34.71, Madisen Betcher coming across at 21:41:51, Kiera Altwine who finished at 22:11.37, and Hannah Thygesen who had a time of 22:43:66.
 
The men are on pace to all run sub 26:15 in the 8k and put themselves top 10 in the region. In comparison to last year's results, that would also put them at top-6 in the conference.
