STORM LAKE, Iowa (February 16, 2022) - The Buena Vista University wrestling team came out ready to go from the start and was dominant all night long en route to a 42-6 American Rivers Conference victory over Neb. Wesleyan during the team's annual Ballroom Brawl event hosted inside the Grand Ballroom of the Siebens Forum.
BVU got first period pins right out of the game from seniors
Byron Fleming (125lbs) and
Brandon Foster (133lbs) to take a 12-0 lead.Â
Axel Hernandez and
Isaiah Schannep followed with identical 8-4 decisions and for Schannep it was his team-leading 20th win of the year. The Prairie Wolves got on the board with back-to-back decisions at both 157 and 165 pounds, respectively, before the Beavers closed out the dual with four straight pins. Graduate student
Don Phillips II was among that final four and he took care of business in 37 seconds.Â
Errol Alden closed out the dual with his third win of the year with a first period pin in 2:07.
Buena Vista wraps up the regular season at 2-12 (1-7 A-R-C) and will now turn its focus to preparing for the NCAA Lower Midwest Regionals which take place on February 25-26 in Dubuque.
