AMES, Iowa (Oct. 11, 2022) - The Buena Vista women's golf team wrapped up the American Rivers Conference Championships on Monday afternoon, and finished the 54-hole event in seventh place overall with junior Emily Powers capping off a career-weekend with a final round 86 to take 22nd.

BVU, which opened with a round of 351 on Saturday, posted rounds of 363 and 361 over the final two days and slipped from sixth to seventh after the final 18 holes. It's overall total for the three days was nearly 200 strokes better than a year ago.

Powers, meanwhile, turned in career-low rounds in each of the three rounds. Since her first championships two seasons ago, she has shaved over 10 strokes off her best score off that round. Brooke Stellmaker capped the tournament with a final round 92 and was a stroke behind Powers. Hailey Bistodeau carded her second 86 of the event to bounce back from a 100 on Sunday and placed 29th.

Cara Kempadoo (31st) and Kaelyn Nielsen (38th) round out the line-up for BVU.

Nebraska Wesleyan pushed just in front of the Beavers on the final day with the third-best round of the afternoon.  Central College won the team title by 42 strokes over runner-up Dubuque. The Dutch finished with the top-3 individual finishers, led by Lydia Grond's 19-over par 232. She was three strokes better than teammate, Thea Lunning.

The championships close out the fall campaign for BVU. Its spring schedule will be posted to www.bvuathletics.com when announced.
