WAVERLY, Iowa (April 3, 2021) - The Buena Vista men's golf team turned in its second-lowest round of the year with all six golfers turning in rounds in the 70's, as the team as it wrapped up the Wartburg College Spring Invite on Saturday out at Prairie Links Golf Course. Overall, the Beavers finished in 10th of the 15 teams with a 36-hole total of 636.
Ryan Ruzek was tied for ninth after the first 18 holes following a round of 78, and the senior matched that score again on Saturday but dropped into a tie for 28th. Fellow senior
Anthony Gallagher turned in a 74 and moved up from a tie for 41st to a tie for 32nd.
Izaak Sander and
Evan Krause, who both tallied rounds of 85 or higher on Friday bounced back with rounds of 79 over the final round of play.
Shane Hess turned in the team's low round of the day with a 73. Joey Ashely, who golfed as an individual, carded a solid 75 as he and Hess tied for 41st overall.
Nebraska Wesleyan posted an overall final round of 277 to win the event by 19 strokes over Kirkwood Commuity College. Alex Kubik, who was the clubhouse leader, turned in a final round score of 4-under 67 to win by three shots over Kirkwood's James Morgan.
BVU is scheduled to go back out onto the course again for the Iowa Central Invite on April 9 and 10 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
