LAST TIME OUT
The Beavers won in Storm Lake against Hamline University 10-5 in the second game of the weekend series on March 13th.?The Beavers used a big four-run third inning and added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth to complete the sweep. The Pipers pushed one run across in the first inning before Jordan Mathewson hit the team' second long ball of the day leading off the home half and tie things up at 1-1. Ryley McGregor picked up an RBI in the second to put BVU up for good. A pair of infield hits capped the four-run inning as the Beavers built a 6-1 lead.  Tyler Tennyson picked up an RBI in the fourth and another in the eighth. Mason Gehling pitched the first four innings for BVU, allowing a pair of earned runs on five hits while striking out five. Dalton Glenn picked up the win in relief by going the next two innings, allowing a run on two hits. Calvin Harris came on with the tying run standing in the on-deck circle in the eighth inning and earned his first career save.  He pitched the final 1.2 innings and gave up two hits and struck out one.

ABOUT BUENA VISTA
BVU will play at home for the second weekend this season.?Through the first five games of the regular season, the team has a .265 BA. One bright spot for the Beavers is the 33 runs batted in on just 45 hits as a team. The pitching staff has allowed a .276 BA while posting a 5.93 ERA. Sophomore Jordan Mathewson is leading the charge with a .429 BA with a double and home run among his six hits.  Matheweson's twin brother, Caden, is tied with him for the team lead in hits (6) as both are hitting .400 or better overall.  Caden has also chalked up a team-high three doubles.  Tennyson has driven in a team-best six runs with J. Mathewson scoring a team-high eight times. Sophomore Mason Gehling has been stout in his two appearances on the hill thus far. In 9 IP, he has recorded 13 strikeouts to just 4 BB and 3 ER.  Tennyson also has 10 punch outs and only one walk over his nine innings.  Austin Scott has come out of the bullpen on two occasions and picked up a six-out save last week against the Pipers.

ABOUT THE STORM
Simpson College will be taking the field after losing a double header vs. Monmouth in Illinois.  The team's three losses this season have all been by three runs or less.  Offensively, the team is hitting a notch below .300 overall.  Brennen Lemke is 5-for-7 in the early going with a home run and three runs scored.  Noah Sacco has a team-leading nine hits and is hitting .563 while also walking 10 times.  Brady Held has eight hits to his name and has also driven in a team-high seven. He's also 1-1 on the mound in the early going with just three runs allowed and 10 strikeouts over 10 innings of work.  Zach Hollingsworth has captured the team's lone save.

UP NEXT
BVU is scheduled to take on Loras in a pair of double headers on March 26th and 27th in Dubuque.
