DUBUQUE, IA (February 27, 2021) – A solid close-out by Loras leaves the Buena Vista women's basketball team just short in its final regular season outing on Saturday, February 27. The Beavers lost to the Duhawks 76-64.

Loras came out quick from tip-off, taking a double-digit lead halfway through the first quarter. After going down 15-7 to begin the second, BVU went on a 8-2 run to bring the score to 17-15. The Duhawks pushed and jumped back out to a 7-point lead to end the half.

Coming out of halftime, the Beavers tried to surmount a comeback, but the closest they got was within four towards the end of the third. From there, Loras kept comfortable distance between them and BVU.

Three Beavers scored in double digits. Sophomore Olivia Larsen led the team with 21 points, 6 steals and 1 block, followed by freshman Megan Morenz who scored a career-high 18 points and sophomore Vanessa Hamlett (12 points). BVU went 49.4 percent from the field but struggled behind the arc, going 0-11 in the contest. Loras' Sami Martin scored 17 points as the Duhawks went 48.4 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from long range.

BVU women's basketball will now wait until the A-R-C announces its tournament seedings to know who and where they will play next. The tournament is set to begin on Monday, March 8.
