STORM LAKE, Iowa (January 30, 2021) - The Buena Vista men's basketball team looks to extend its winning streak as it hosts Loras College on Sunday, Jan.31 in Storm Lake. This is a rescheduled game from earlier this season due to COVID-19 schedule changes.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 83rd all-time meeting between Loras and BVU, the Beavers holding the lead in the series 44-38. These matchups have a history of being high scoring and competitive down to the wire. Last season, BVU made a stunning comeback after falling down 23 points in the first half. The Beavers went on to defeat the Duhawks 92-88 in overtime. A pattern of shootouts has developed in the last few meetings, with games decided over a few possessions.

ABOUT THE DUHAWKS 
Sunday's matchup will be the Duhawks fourth time taking the court this season as they look to extend their two-game winning streak while playing their first conference game. Loras defeated Rockford 97-90 on Thursday, Jan. 28, led by senior Cole Navigato's first career double-double. Although the Rockford Regents came out of halftime with a valiant effort, scoring 60 points, the Duhawks held them off, shooting almost 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line. As a team, Loras is averaging nearly 83 points per game, shooting 43 percent from the field and just shy of 30 percent behind the arc. Many Duhawks are shooting from long range, including Rowan McGowen and Griffen Clark, both with 40 percent of their treys falling. Navigato leads the team in scoring at 19.3 ppg with McGowen (15.0 ppg) and Clark (13.0 ppg) also averaging double-digit games. 

LAST TIME OUT
Buena Vista won its first home game of the season against Simpson College Thursday, Jan. 28. The Beavers' 88-72 victory was highlighted by their shooting from long range. Senior Garrett Sittner scored 17 points, 5-of-7 from downtown. Freshman Zane Neubaum led the Beavers with a career-high 23 points. Michael Demers and Jake Thompson also scored in double digits to help push the Beavers past the Storm. Demers was also perfect from the free throw line as part of his 17 points, with Thompson adding 11 points and 5 assists.
