Women's Basketball Closes Out Season on Saturday against the Storm

STORM LAKE, Iowa (February 21, 2020) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team travels to Simpson this weekend to close out its 2019-20 campaign.

LAST TIME OUT
The Beavers were at home against Central College on Wednesday night losing 77-58. Destiny Einerwold led team in scoring with 15 points while going 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Nicole Lange and Vanessa Hamlett came off the bench to each add 11 points for the team.

SERIES OUTLOOK
It will be the 86th meeting between these two teams with Simpson winning the last match during the regular season. Simpson leads the all-time series at 53-32. The Storm have won the last five of six in the series between the two teams.

SCOUTING SIMPSON COLLEGE   
The Storm have won last five of six against the Beavers, entering Saturday they will try to go for the series sweep. The Storm are led by Kia Rasmussen who is averaging 12 points per game and 12.7 in conference play. The Storm have a balanced scoring attack entering this matchup with six players averaging at least 10 points per game. Claire Johnson, another Storm player averaging 10 points per game, also has 119 assists on the season to bring her average on the year to 5 assist per game this year. Cassie Chubb sits first on the team in rebounds per game as well as made threes this season. Chubb has 61 made threes on the season shooting 45 percent from behind the arc.
 
ABOUT BUENA VISTA
The Beavers are going after their first conference win of the year as they play their final contest. The team is averaging 59 ppg, shooting 36 percent for the field and 28 percent from downtown. Senior Destiny Einerwold has scored in double figures in all but three games for the year and leads the team and ranks third in the conference at 15.4ppg.  She's also eighth in field goal percentage and seventh in free-throw percentage.   The team sits eighth, just ahead of the Prairie Wolves, in scoring defense at 77.8ppg. They also sit eighth in rebounding margin at -7.1rpg. Aside from Einerwold, junior Erin Gerke sits second on the team in scoring at 12.3ppg.  She leads the way in assists with 76, steals with 49 and three-point baskets (36). Jennifer Schneider leads the team in rebounding at 5.4rpg.
