STATS
LAST TIME OUT
The Beavers fell at home to Luther College 91-75 back on January 6. The team fell behind 31-10 after one quarter but did manage to use a strong end to the first half to claw back within 12. That, however, was as close as the team was able to get despite its best shooting performance of the year.Â
Destiny Einerwold led the way with 19 points as four of the five starters scored in double figures. For the second straight contest, the team turned in nine three-point makes.
SERIES OUTLOOK
The Duhawks lead the all-time series between the two teams, 38-32, and have won 15 of the last 19 match-ups, including three straight. BVU's last triumph over Loras came back in 2017-18 when it won 69-56 over in Dubuque. The first-ever meeting was in 1986-87 with the Beavers coming out on top 73-67, and the two programs have played every year since.
SCOUTING LORAS
The Duhawks have moved up to No. 19 in this week's D3hoops.com national poll after rolling to a 102-74 home victory over Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. That win was the sixth straight for the team after it dropped an 80-77 road contest at Luther to begin A-R-C play back on December 4. The team is averaging a league-best 84.4ppg overall this season and is allowing less than 65.0ppg. Junior Marissa Schroeder comes in averaging 15.3ppg which ranks fourth in the conference while teammates Macenzie Kraemer (14.7ppg) and Courtney Schnoor (13.5ppg) sit sixth and eighth, respectively. Schroeder is also among the most efficient shooters in the league, shooting 49.3 percent from the field which ranks third. The team does alot of its damage on the defensive side where it is +8.92 in turnover margin. That's nearly double the next closest in the league. Loras was picked to finish second in the A-R-C this season after going 22-6 a year ago and falling to Wartburg in the conference tournament final. It went on to receive an at-large berth in the DIII National Tournament where it fell to No. 19 DePauw 78-54 in the first round.
ABOUT BUENA VISTA
The Beavers are beginning to find their shooting touch over the last six games, shooting over 40 percent on three occassions, including a season-best 51.1 percent last time out versus Luther. They have made nine three-pointers in consecutive contests which is a season-high. Senior
Destiny Einerwold is the only player on the roster to have scored in double figures in all 13 games this season and comes in ranked second in the A-R-C at 17.0ppg. She's shooting 42.3 percent from the field and is getting to the free-throw line an average of 6.7 times per game which is tops in the league and in the top-20 nationally. Junior
