Men's Tennis Picks up Second Straight Win

LAKEVILLE, Minn. - The Buena VIsta men's tennis team wrapped up its weekend trip to the state of Minnesota on Saturday afternoon by leaving with its second straight victory following a 6-3 triumph over Bethany Lutheran College.

BVU got the day going with wins at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles and then took care of business in singles play.

John Foss improved to 3-1 in singles play with a thrilling comeback victory at No. 1.  He dropped the first set 6-1 before storming back and tying things up with a 6-1 win.  He capped things of with a big 10-6 victory in the tiebreaker which helpd fuel the momentum.

Danny Kramer came up on the short end of a tough three-set loss, losing the third set, 10-8.  Jake Thompson, Aaron Mumm and Andrew Boell each won in straight sets at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

"This was a big match for a lot of guys today," said head coach Brett Groen.  "It tested us and forced us to focus on the little things to get the victory.  Our two and three doubles teams really worked well together and gave us a jump start that carried over into singles.  Hopefully we can build on this and finish off the weekend with one more win on Sunday."

The victory pushes the team's overall record to 2-2 and it will look to make it three straight victories when it hosts Knox College on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m.
