Kohawks use Big Third Quarter to Pull Away from BVU 76-55

CEDAR RAPIDS - Buena Vista led 34-31 at the half, but it was Coe outscoring the Beavers 29-8 in the third quarter to break it open en route to a 76-55 American Rivers Conference victory.

Erin Gerke turned in a team-high 15 points and five rebounds to help lead BVU while Destiny Einerwold came off the bench to add 10 points.

BVU led by as many as five points in the second quarter before the lead was cut to three at the break.  Coe used a 10-3 spurt out of the gate to start the second half to regain the lead and then used an 11-0 surge later in the third quarter to break the game open.

The Beavers shot 37 percent from the field, but struggled at the free-throw line by making only 11-of-21 attempts.  Coe was 48 percent shooting from the field and made 17-of-25 from the line.

Buena Vista falls to 5-16 overall (0-12 A-R-C) and will play at Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
