The Buena Vista women's soccer team couldn't overcome the fast start by visiting Augustana College (Ill.) on Sunday afternoon, as the Vikings dealt the Beavers a 5-0 setback on Senior Day inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.

Augustana (7-1-1) came out on fire from the opening whistle, finiding the back of the net four times in the first eight minutes of the contest to lead 4-0.  From there, it was a battle of the two defenses for the rest of the contest.  The Vikings added the final score of the match during the 73rd minute and would hold a 27-6 edge in total shots.

Senior McKenna Whitehill, one of seven seniors honored prior to the start of the match, led the way offensively for the Beavers with three of the six shots, including the only two shots-on-goal.

McKeely Tjaden went the distance in-goal for the second straight match and posted 12 saves.

Buena Vista is now 1-6 on the year and now shifts its focus to the start of American Rivers Conference play on Saturday, September 29, when the team travels to Decorah, Iowa, to take on Luther College at 2:00pm.
