Women's Soccer Falls to the Dutch 7-0

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Oct. 21, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team battled hard from the opening kick to the final whistle on Wednesday night as it hosted Central College (12-1-1, 4-0-1 A-R-C), but the Dutch was just too much to handle in the end as they went on to hand BVU a 7-0 loss.

The Beaver defense came out aggressive and challenged Central keeping the match scoreless for the first 25 minutes. Central was able to break that tie late in the 20th minute and went on to add three more goals in the half  to lead 4-0.

BVU kept putting battling throughout the second half despite Central holding a 12-3 edge in shots. The Dutch tacked on an early goal and then finished with a pair of late ones. Freshman Lucy Elsener had a pair of shots-on-goal to lead the Beavers as they tallied five shots on the evening. Elliana Fantasia went the distance in-goal and chipped in with 10 strong saves.

Olivia DeVos scored one of the seven goals for the Dutch and tied for the team lead with four total shots (all on-goal). A total of 12 different players accounted for the team's 17 shots-on-goal overall.

With two regular season matches remaining, Buena Vista is now 2-10-1 (0-5 A-R-C) and travels to Coe College (3-11, 0-5 A-R-C) for a big showdown with the Kohawks starting at 1 p.m.

The Beavers are only three points behind Neb. Wesleyan (4-9-1, 1-4 A-R-C) for the sixth and final A-R-C Tournament berth. The Beavers and Prairie Wolves meet up in the regular season finale next Tuesday night in Storm Lake.
