Buena Vista senior Chris Habermann picked up his fourth singles win of the year on Friday afternoon, but it wasn't quite enough as the Buena Vista men's tennis team dropped a tough 8-1 Iowa Conference home match to Luther College (11-2, 2-0 IIAC).
Habermann won the first set before falling in the second. He was able to earn the win with a thrilling 10-7 victory in the tiebreaker. He and Jesse Brace were going after their 11th doubles triumph but came up just short in an 8-5 loss.
Aside from Habermann's victory, the final five singles matches were played in straight sets.
Buena Vista dips to 2-14 on the year (0-4 IIAC) and will look to bounce back on Saturday when it hosts Simpson and Central at 9:00am and 2:00pm, respectively.
