Men's Tennis With Commanding Non-Conference Win over Martin Luther

The Buena Vista men's tennis team played a home match for the second straight day, and on Thursday came away with a convincing 7-2 win over visiting Martin Luther College.

The Beavers steam-rolled through doubles play with a pair of 8-0 victories.  The number one tandem of Chris Habermann and Jesse Brace improved to 12-4 overall with their sixth straight victory.

Will Connelly and Steven Will teamed up together and notched their first doubles win of the year, while Martin Luther won by forfeit in the third slot.

Habermann and Brace allowed just one total point in their respective singles matches combined, as the Beavers seized control from there.  Will picked up his fourth singles win with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph.  Grant Wright came through with a thrilling 10-6 third-set tiebreaker to hang on for a win in the fourth slot and Connelly picked up a hard-fought straight-set victory in the number five match.

Buena Vista improved to 2-14 with the win while the Knights dipped to 0-8.

Up next for BVU are trips to Decorah and Waverly on Saturday, April 9.  The Beavers take on the Norse at 9:00am before taking on the Knights at 3:00pm.
