Inside the Series:

The two teams have met 12 previous times in the IIAC Tournament with the Beavers owning a 9-3 record in those contests.  The Knights, however, won last year's semifinal game in Storm Lake over the top-seed Beavers, 93-88.  Four of those nine victories for the Beavers over the Knights have come in the title game, as the two sides have met in the championship game five times.  Buena Vista has won the last two tournament games played in Waverly.  Wartburg has won three straight games overall against BVU in what will be the 162nd meeting all-time.

Last Time Out:

Buena Vista, seeded sixth, advanced into tonight's semifinal contest after a commanding 87-58 quarterfinal victory at thid-seed Simpson College on Tuesday night.  BVU needed a win against Coe College this past Saturday just to make it into the tournament and now has won consecutive games overall for the first time since winning four straight at the start of December.  Kennedy Drey scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his second straight double and his fifth in the last seven games.  Nick Clark turned in 16 points and dished out five assists.  It was the second straight strong shooting night for BVU, which has gone a combined 26-of-56 from downtown over the last two outings.

Scouting Wartburg:

The Knights earned a first round bye in the tournament after an 8-6 record during IIAC play.  The team closed the regular season with consecutive home wins over league champion Dubuque (67-56) and Luther (68-53), respectively.  The team was 9-3 inside of Buzz Levick Arena this season and enters tonight's game having won five straight on its home court.

Jordan Cannon leads three players averaging double-digits in scoring at 15.7ppg.  He's tied for the team lead with 37 three-point makes and is shooting just under 50 percent from the field overall.  Nick Webber and Nate Woeste are right behind at 12.0ppg and 10.4ppg, respectively.  Cannon and Woeste are two of three players on the team hauling in at least 4.0rpg for a team that averages 38.0rpg.  Defensively, the team has held three out of its last four opponents to 70 points or less, including its last two outings where they failed to score 60.  Cannon turned in a double-double for the Knights in the latest meeting against BVU this season, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

What's up Next:

The winner of tonight's semifinal match-up will advance to Saturday's IIAC Tournament championship game against either top-seed Dubuque or fifth-seed Central.  The highest remaining seed will serve as the host of that contest.

BVU Game Notes:

Finding the Long Range Touch: After going seven straight games without reaching double-digits in three-points, the Beavers have drilled 16 and 10, respectively, over the last two games (26-of-52).  Nick Clark has gone 7-of-18 with Thomas Wisecup making 8-of-11.  Clark now has 78 for the year and is just four makes away from Eric Wiebers' single-season school record which he set in 2003-04.

Starters Taking Control: Four of the five starters for BVU are averaging at least 14.5ppg over the last two outings.  Sean Morgan is just shy of double-digits at 8.0, but has still gone 8-of-12 from the field and is grabbing 4.5rpg.  Bobby Ivey had gone seven straight games of scoring under 10.0ppg and now has totaled 19 and 10 over his last two, while shooting a combined 10-of-13 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
