Box Score Jasmyn Flynn-Graves scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Becca Pennington added 17 points and five boards, but the Buena Vista women's basketball team played could not make that final late-game push, as they fell at Coe College, 92-78, on Saturday to conclude the regular season.
Flynn-Graves did most of her work at the free-throw line, sinking a season-high 11-of-15 attempts en route to her second double-double of the season. Pennington made just 5-of-14 shots from the field, but went 5-of-6 at the charity stripe and had her second 17-point game in her last three outings.
Holly Schnieder made all four of her field goal shots and turned in a career-high 10 points in just 13 minutes off the bench.
Buena Vista, as a team, shot 35 percent from the field, but was held to only 6-of-20 from long range. Both teams went 24-of-30 at the free-throw line.
The Kohawks made 10-of-23 from three-point range and also totaled 15 blocks as they completed the season sweep of BVU.
Coe held a 21-17 lead after the first quarter and pushed the margin up to as much as 12 in the second before taking a 44-37 lead into the half. BVU fell behind by 14 after the third quarter and tried to make a big fourh-quarter comeback.
BVU cut the deficit down to seven on a Pennington three with 3:49 left, but the Kohawks answered with a layup and a pair of free-throws to make it an 80-70 lead at the 3:00 mark. The Beavers were unable to get any closer than eight down the stretch, as Coe made its free-throws to make it a 14-point margin at the end.
The Beavers (14-11, 8-6 IIAC) have now dropped three straight games and will enter next week's Iowa Conference Tournament as the fourth seed. The team will host fifth-seed Simpson on Tuesday, February 23, at 7:00pm inside of Siebens Fieldhouse.
