After falling to North Central over Spring Break in 2014, the Buena Vista men's tennis team came through with a little revenge on Monday afternoon, cruising to a 7-2 victory this time around to begin its three-match string to begin its Spring Break trip.
BVU picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles before taking the No. 1 and No. 4 singles matches. Kyle Weeden then captured a tiebreaker in No. 3 singles to secure the win for the Beavers, as the team also picked up wins in the final two singles match-ups for the 7-2 win.
Among those earning wins was Grant Wright, who joined the team at the conclusion of the men's basketball season. He picked up a thrilling tiebreaker win after falling 6-4 in the opening set.
"Today was a complete team win," said BVU head coach Rick Halverson afterward. "It's great to beat a team like that which defeated us last year. It was good to see both the seniors win and to see one of them, Shade, clinch the match for us."
Buena Vista will play a pair of matches on Tuesday, beginning with UW-Eau Claire at 9:00am ET. It will then take on Carleton College at 4:00pm.
The team currently has an off-day scheduled for Wednesday before it will take part in a community service event on Thursday, working with special needs children.
