Box Score Junior Lexi Fisher scored a game-high 21 points with fellow junior Jasmyn Flynn-Graves adding 12, but the Buena Vista women's basketball team came up on the short end of a 79-62 loss at Coe College to conclude the 2014-15 season.
Fisher drilled six three-pointers (6-of-12) and passes Ashley Reynolds for third place on the program's all time list with 151. Her 61 made buckets from long range this season tie Susan Kies (2013-14) for third-most in school history.
Flynn-Graves made just 3-of-11 attempts from the floor, but did sink all six of her free-throw opportunities. As a team, BVU went 17-of-20 from the charity stripe. Jessica Jager hit a pair of three-point buckets off the bench and tallied eight points in 18 minutes.
Lacey Vokt grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds with Flynn-Graves next at five. The Kohawks held a convincing 49-38 advtange overall.
It was all Coe in the early going as it built a quick 18-2 lead and pushed the margin to 17 (27-10) midway through the period. Fisher then hit a pair of three-point buckets over the next four minutes that brought BVU as close as 31-21 with 5:53 to go.
Coe was able to maintain the double-digit lead, however, kicking it back up to 15 with 4:20 left in the first half, before a long range bucket by Fisher near the end of the period cut the Beaver deficit to nine (43-34) heading into halftime.
Fisher picked up where she left off to end the first half, connecting on yet another attempt from downtown that made it a 45-37 contest just minutes into the second half. A free-throw by Vokt got the Beavers as close as seven, but the Kohawks scored four straight points to push it back into double-digits.
Buena Vista tried to keep within striking distance, as a three-pointer by Sidney Beckman at the 9:19 mark again made it a seven-point contest (58-51), but the Beavers managed just three points over the next five minutes, as the Kohawks (17-8, 10-4 IIAC) extended their advantage out to 69-54 with 4:19 left and never looked back from there
Buena Vista concludes is 2014-15 campaign at 8-17 overall (3-11 IIAC), while the game also put an end to the careers of seniors Erica Ollendeick and Shelby Wiederhoeft.
