Women's Soccer Edged 2-1 in OT at St. Mary's (Minn.)

The Buena Vista women's soccer team was looking to get back into the win column on Tuesday night, but St. Mary's (Minn.) overcame a 1-0 first half deficit to knock off the Beavers in overtime, 2-1.

Junior Tori Carson knocked home her team-leading eighth goal of the year off a feed from freshman Caroline Maher during the 41' that gave BVU a 1-0 halftime lead.

The Cardinals kept fighting and would eventually tie the game midway through the second half, after outshooting BVU, 11-3 in the period.

Tied at 1-1, the match went into overtime where St. Mary's scored with nearly three minutes to go in the first extra period.

Carson was one of three Beavers with two shots on the night, as the team tallied seven overall.  She, along with Sam Richards, each chalked up two shots-on-goal.

Rachel Novotny went the distance in-goal for BVU, allowing both goals and posting a career-best six saves.

Buena Vista is now 3-5-3 overall and will look to bounce back when it plays host to Luther College in Iowa Conference action this Saturday, October 11, beginning at 3:00pm.
