The Buena Vista women's tennis team was on the road for the first time this season on Saturday, and the Beavers finished the day by splitting a pair of Iowa Conference matches, including a 6-3 triumph over the University of Dubuque.
Dubuque jumped out to the early 2-1 lead with wins at #2 and #3 doubles. Haley Henrichs and Kassidy Ipsen hung on at the #1 spot for an 8-6 triumph before Elizabeth Heffernan and Tarynne Kinghorn were edged, 9-7.
The Beavers took over in singles play, taking five of the six matches, inlcuding a pair of three-set thrillers.
BVU came close to the sweep on the day, but came up just short in a 5-4 setback to Loras College.
Buena Vista is now 3-4 on the year and is back in action on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30pm road match against Central College in Fort Dodge.
