Janet Berry begins her third season as the head women's golf coach in the fall of 2020 following a 26-year run as head coach of the Beavers' women's basketball program.

In each of her first two seasons, Berry has moved the team up the charts at the conference championships.  During her first season in 2018, the team took sixth which was its highest since also placing sixth in 2011.  Then a year ago in 2019, Berry helped lead the program to a fifth place finish, marking its highest conference championship finish in 10 years.  She also coached three all-conference golfers which is the highest single-season total for the program since 2003.  In addition, she has also coached three academic all-conference selections over the two seasons.

Berry, however, is not a complete stranger to the women's golf program as she did spend two separate spring seasons earlier in her career as an interim coach.  During those two instances, she was in charge of coaching a pair of individuals at the NCAA Division III championships.

She has previously served on the board of directors for the Iowa Women's Golf Association and as a co-director for the Iowa Women's State Amateur Tournament.

A native of Burlington, Iowa, Berry was part of a state championship team in high school and was a Forever 39 State Champion.

In her 26 seasons as BVU head women's basketball coach, Berry won 390 games, captured five Iowa Conference championships and made five NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.  She's a five-time IIAC Coach of the Year and was named the West Region Coach of the Year in 2005.  In 2003-04, her team went a perfect 16-0 in conference play and won a school-record 23 straight games before falling in the conference tournament championship.

Berry attended Iowa State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education and received her master's degree from Mankato State University, Mankato, Minn. Berry is also an assistant professor of exercise science at BVU.

She and her husband, Steve, are the parents of two sons, Blake and Brock.
