Michael Demers joined the coaching ranks for the men's basketball team as an assistant coach in 2022-23 following an illustrious five-year playing career with the Beavers.
Demers was a 3x All-Conference selection for the Beavers, including First Team honors his final two seasons, while also being named All-Region his final year. He played in 107 career games and started each game he appeared in over his final three seasons. He averaged 12.6ppg and 4.2rpg while dishing out 2.3apg.
In his third season in 2019-20, he went on to make a career-high 72 three-point shots - a mark that is ranked seventh for a single-season in program history. During his final year in 2021-22, Demers became only the fifth player in program history to reach 200 career three-point makes and finished as a career .382 shooter from downtown.
Aside from playing basketball for the Blue & Gold, Demers also played baseball for his final three seasons on campus.Â
During his prep days at Storm Lake St. Mary's High School, Demers was a four-time letterwinner in basketball for the Panthers and was the team's Most Valuable Player as both a junior and senior. He was named First Team All-Conference as a junior and senior while earning Third Team accolades as a sophomore. In addition, he landed First Team All-District accolades in 2016 and 2017 while also being named Second Team All-State in 2017.
Demers graduated from BVU in 2022 with a degree in physical education.
