College Highlights: Jon had the start of hisfreshman season delayed as he recovered from Tommy John Surgery onhis elbow. He eventually made his collegiate debut against theUniversity of Dubuque on April 1. His first career start came onApril 30 at Loras College when he struck out four over threeinnings of work. He then notched his first career win a week laterby going 5.2 innings, allowing only two runs during the Beavers''12-2 win at Cornell College. Two outings later, he got the startagainst Chapman in the College World Series and suffered ahard-luck no-decision in a 3-2 BVU loss after going a season-high6.2 innings, allowing only two runs and striking out one as theteam was just one of four teams left competing for the nationaltitle. Last season as a sophomore, he pitched a staff-high 71.1innings over 12 starts, a total that ranked ninth among all IIACpitchers. He went eight innings in each of his first two outings,combining to allow only two runs and striking out 13, en route to apair of victories. He picked up his third win of the year when hepitched a complete-game at Nebraska Wesleyan and struck out acareer-high nine without issuing a walk. He finished the year witha team-high four complete games and was tied for the lead with twoshutouts. His first shutout came in his first start of the yearwith the second coming when he allowed just one hit and struck outfive against the University of Dubuque. His 56 strikeouts tied forthe team lead and ranked fifth in the league.
