The Buena Vista University Athletics Hall of Fame welcomes its Class of 2026 during an induction ceremony this Friday, Oct. 2. Throughout this week, we will shine the spotlight on each of the four individual inductees and the team inductee. TODAY'S SPOTLIGHT: Dail Fellin '88.

Dail Fellin, a Mason City High School graduate, was a three-time national qualifier on the wrestling mat for Hall of Fame Coach Al Baxter. He is among the elite wrestlers in program history, and remains tied for sixth on its all-time wins list with 114 and fifth in falls at 34.

After competing in only six matches and going 2-4 as a freshman in 1984-85, Fellin took off. He notched 25 wins as a sophomore and capped that season with a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Tournament to earn All-American honors. He went 43-5-1 with 18 falls as a junior at 134 pounds then closed out his career by recording a career-best 44 wins as a senior in 1987-88 and capturing the third of his three straight Iowa Conference individual titles.

A retired member of the Nebraska State Patrol, Fellin resides in Sioux City and works for Great West Casualty Company. Dail and his wife Jill are the parents of three daughters: Abigail, Emily, and Lilly.
