DECORAH, Iowa (Sept. 22, 2026) - The Buena Vista volleyball team went up against its former American Rivers Conference foe on Tuesday night with a trip to Luther College, and the Beavers went on to record its 10th sweep of the season with a 3-0 victory over the Norse by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-16.

Charley Hernandez chalked up her seventh double-double of the year by leading the way with 12 kills and 13 digs. Junior
Ashlyne Havermann was next with seven kills and senior
Hope Vanderlinden added dive. The Beavers tallied 38 kills on the night and continued its efficiency on the attack with a .250 percentage.

Anabel Seaman had herself an all-around productive night by dishing out a team-high 16 assists and three ace serves to go along with four digs. Fellow junior
Merced Ramirez added 13 assists and three digs.
The two teams were all tied up at 10-10 midway through the opening set before the Beavers used a big 6-0 run, including back-to-back kills from Vanderlinden that made it 16-10. Luther stuck around by scoring three straight points late to pull within 24-20, but freshman

Luther jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead to start the second set with the benefit of two ace serves, but the Beavers quickly settled in and began taking control. The team used a pair of attack errors by the Norse to pull even at 4-4, and then Havermann sparked another 4-0 spurt with a kill that put BVU in front 9-6. The lead grew to as much as 15-9 before Luther cut the deficit down to 15-14. From there, the Beavers scored 10 of the final 13 points and finished the set with 16 kills and only three errors en route to a match-high .419 attack percentage.Â
BVU scored seven of the first eight points of the third set and never looked back. The lead grew to 13-5, and later on after a kill by Hernandez it was 19-10. From there, the Norse were unable to get any closer than six, and the Beavers wrapped things up by scoring the final three points and win 25-16.
The loss dropped Luther to 2-12 on the year while Buena Vista remains perfect overall at 11-0. The Beavers now have a week off before they host Martin Luther College on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. The team is 2-0 against the Knights already this season.
