STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 1, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team hosted Martin Luther College in a non-conference match-up to begin the season on Tuesday evening, but neither team was able to find the back of the net en route to a 0-0 tie.

BVU put the pressure on the Knights defense for the majority of the match, including an 8-3 edge in shots in the second half alone. The Beavers tallied 11 shots overall and five on-goal.

The Knights had five of their shot attempts go on goal but were unable to get anything past junior Maia Jaroch who continues to shine while guarding the net.

Freshman Lucy Elsener had a strong BVU debut with a team-high four shot attempts while fellow freshman Alohilani Kalaola-Maruquin added two. Jaroch chalked up five saves to lead the way.

Both teams battled through the heat with water breaks midway through both halves.

Buena Vista (0-0-1) will remain at home to host Augustana College (Ill.) on Friday evening at 5 p.m.
