Beaver Volleyball Moves to 10-0 after Sweep of UM-Morris

MORRIS, Minn. (Sept.19, 2026) - Sophomore Charley Hernandez turned in a match-high 21 kills and posted an attack percentage of .386 while freshman Addison Wagoner chipped in with a career-high nine kills, and the Buena Vista volleyball team moved to 10-0 on the season after sweeping past the University of Minnesota-Morris on Saturday morning by scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-17.

Hernandez, who has posted the sixth-highest kill total (18) for a three-set match in program history already twice this season, chalked up the third-highest total in this match to help lead the charge. She finished with only four errors on 44 total attempts, and now has five matches this season with a percentage of over .300. In addition, Hernandez added to her double-double total as she dug up 12 balls which was the second-highest by the team.

Wagoner, playing in only her second match of the year, had nine kills and just one error on 21 attempts for a .381 percentage. Junior Ashlyne Havermann chipped in with eight kills. As a team, the Beavers posted an attack percentage of .325 which gives them four matches at better than a .300 clip this season.

Junior Anadel Seaman dished out a team-leading 23 assists with Merced Ramirez right behind at 19. Seaman also had one of the team's two serving aces on the day.

Defensively, the Beavers held to Cougars to only a .162 attack percentage, including a .036 clip in the final set as they completed the sweep.

The opening set was back-and-forth at the start until BVU went on a run where it scored nine of 10 points and built a 12-6 cushion. UM-M eventually went on a run of its own to get within 16-15, but the Beavers were too tough down the stretch and extended the lead to 21-16 en route to the 25-21 victory. BVU maintained a three-point margin throughout a chunk of the second set until the Cougars used a late 5-0 surge to tie the score at 17-17. It was again knotted at 21-21 and 22-22 before a pair of kills from Hernandez, sandwiched between an ace from Seaman, to win the set 25-22. The Cougars jumped out to a 7-4 advantage in the third before the Beavers rolled off five straight points to lead 9-7 and never trailed again the rest of the way. It was only a 15-14 lead before the team used another run to go in front 18-14 and went on to score seven of the final 10 points from there.

BVU remains the only unbeaten team in the American Rivers Conference, and will try to keep a clean record against a former conference foe, when it travels to Luther College on Tuesday, Sept. 22, for a non-conference match starting at 6 p.m.
