STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Sept. 18, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's soccer team went on the road this afternoon for a non-conference showdown at UW-Stevens Point and came up short against a tough Pointers team by a 7-0 score.
UW-SP was tough to handle on the offensive end as they held a commanding 27-2 edge in total shots for the day. The Pointers broke the scoreless came during the 11' for the first of four goals over a seven minute span that gave them a 4-0 cushion at the break. BVU was held without a shot attempt in the half while Stevens Point had five shots-on-goal. UW-SP tacked on three more goals in the second half over the first 10 minutes.
Christa Borchardt recorded a hat trick for the Pointers with three goals and added one assist. Rita Danner chipped in with two goals and one assist.
Alohilani Kalaola-Maruquin had a shot-on-goal for the Beavers while
Emily Sheets added the only other shot. Freshman
Elliana Fantasia got the start and played 74 minutes. She was charged with seven goals despite chalking up a career-high nine saves.
Denae Thayer closed things out and registered three saves in her nearly 16 minutes of action.
Buena Vista falls to 0-4-1 on the year while UW-SP improves to 3-1-3. The Beavers will continue their weekend road trip with another non-conference match at Ripon College on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for noon.
