STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 15, 2026) - Following a dominating second set against Martin Luther College on Saturday (Sept. 12), the Buena Vista volleyball team has been selected for this week's Pizza Ranch Play of the Week.

This weekly award is sponsored by the Storm Lake Pizza Ranch and is selected each week by the BVU Athletics Communications staff based on the overall performances from all BVU Athletics events from the previous week.

The Beavers rolled to a dominating 25-6 second set victory over the Knights en route to a 3-0 win in the match. A few highlights from that set include:

• 15 kills for the Beavers and only one attack error
• Posted an attack percentage of .560 for the set
• BVU scored the first four points and scored nine of first 11 points overall
• Sophomore Charley Hernandez recorded four of her match-high 18 kills
• The team recorded four service aces

The match with Martin Luther was part of the Central Bank Triangular,  hosted by Buena Vista, on Saturday, Sept. 12. Earlier in the day, the team also picked up a 3-0 sweep over Rockford University.

For the weekend, BVU tallied 91 total kills and recorded an attack percentage of .321.  It also averaged nearly 4.0 ace serves and 18.0 digs per set.

Buena Vista moves to 6-0 overall this season and remains at home to host Grinnell College (3-4) on Tuesday, Sept. 15 for a varsity only non-conference match. First serve on the Saggau Family Court is at 6 p.m.
