EUREKA, Ill. (Sept. 11, 2026) - In what was another defensive battle for the Buena Vista men's soccer team on Friday night at Eureka College, it was the Red Devils breaking the scoreless match with a goal during the 75th minute en route to a 1-0 victory.
Both teams had some good looks throughout the opening half but neither could quite be on target and had to settle for a 0-0 tie at the break. Eureka posted 11 first half shots compared to five for BVU. Things were essentially the same over the final half but the Red Devils holding the overall cushion in shots-on-goal at 7-2.
Kenin Kapich,
Raymond Hernandez and
Zackary Jakobitz each had two total shots to help pace the Beavers offensively, with Jakobitz and
Brayden Schwinck each drilling one shot-on-goal.
Junior
Alexis Sanabia went the distance in-goal and allowed just the one goal and posted four saves.
Buena Vista dips to 0-2-1 on the year and is back on the field on Sunday, Sept. 13, for another non-conference match at Blackburn College starting at 1 p.m.
