BROOKINGS, S.D. (Apr. 28, 2026) - The Buena Vista baseball team went on the road to play an exhibition game on Tuesday afternoon at South Dakota State University. The Beavers took a 1-0 lead to the second inning but the Jackrabbits would then score in each of the next six innings to win 11-1 in seven innings.
Benjamin Byington and
Jake Eddie drew back-to-back walks to begin the game with Byington later coming around to score in the inning on an RBI groundout from sophomore
Dylan Johnson.
SDSU came back and took the lead with three runs in the second and began pulling away with one more run in the fourth and two in each of the next three innings.
BVU was held without a hit in the game while the Jackrabbits tallied eight with four going for extra-bases.
Junior
Ean McDaniel got the start on the mound as the Beavers used more of a pitcher-by-committee approach for the day. McDaniel retired all three batters he faced in the first inning including one strikeout.
Koleson Evans pitched the second inning and would suffer the loss after being charged with three runs and two hits while walking two.
Buena Vista returns to action this weekend as it travels to Simpson College for a three-game series to wrap up the season. First pitch for Friday's doubleheader is set for 3:30Â p.m.
