Men's Golf Finishes Strong on Final Day at Bobby Krig Invite

LE SUEUR, Minn. (Apr. 19, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's golf team played 36 holes of golf on Sunday to close out the 54-hole Bobby Krig Invite, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus, and finished with a pair of solid rounds which bumped the team up into a 13th place overall finish among the 16 teams.

BVU, which entered the day in 15th after an opening round 332, came out strong and carded a 307 which marked the eighth-lowest round in the field. Senior Matthew Turpen had the low round for the Beavers with a 3-over 74, including a birdie on his opening hole. Gabe Kramer and Mason Laven weren't far behind with a 75 and 78, resepectively.

On the final 18 holes of the day, Sander turned in a 77 for the low round. Reid Hany birdied three straight holes in the middle of his round which aided him to a round of 78. Laven and Turpen both had one birdie in their rounds and each finished with rounds of 80.

Laven finished in 55th place overall to lead the way as Turpen took 59th. Sander and Kramer both tied for 67th. As a team, the Beavers (954) were just one stroke behind 12th. Gustavus Adolphus  (871) claimed the team title by three shots over Bethel.

Buena Vista shifts its focus to the A-R-C Championships that tee-off next Sunday, Apr. 26 and runs thru Tuesday, Apr. 28. The event is held at Glen Oaks Golf and Country Club in Des Moines. Sunday's opening round begins at 1 p.m. with the final two rounds going off at 9 a.m.
