PELLA, Iowa (March 28, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's track & field team began its outdoor season on Saturday during the Central College Dutch Invitational and came away with several strong marks.

Freshman Hailey Hearting helped lead the way by taking seventh in the long jump, 11th in the 400m hurdles, and ran the opening leg on the 4x400m relay that took sixth. She also took part in the 100m hurdles and failed to qualify into the finals that had seven of the eight finalist from a Division I or II school. 

Ava Mills was fourth in the high jump by clearing the third-highest mark at 1.45 meters. Junior Megan Bakke came in 14th in the 1500m run with a time of 5:03.41.

Payton Schermerhorn came in eighth in the shot put with a heave of 11.30m.

Next up for the Beavers will be the University of South Dakota Early Bird on April 3-4 in Vermillion, S.D.
