CLERMONT, Fla. (March 13, 2026) - Junior Kali Irlmeier pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out five in the first game of the day on Friday for the Buena Vista softball team as it edged Beloit, 2-0, but then the Beavers would drop their final game of the spring trip in five innings, as Gordon College rolled to an 18-1 victory.
Irlmeier faced only 28 total batters in the contest and was dealing all afternoon. Only one of the four hits she allowed went for extra-bases but Beloit was still able to get a runner to third in five of the seven innings.
Freshman Zoey Thayer broke scorless tie with an RBI double in the second inning, and that's how things would stand until the top of the seventh when the Beavers got a big insurance run off an RBI single from freshman Maddy Raveling, who chalked up her first career multi-hit game by going 2-for-3 with a walk.
Beloit's best offensive threat came in the bottom of the sixth when it had runners at second and third with two outs but Irlmeier got a big strikeout looking to end the inning.
Raveling and Thayer both finished with two hits and an RBI. Irlmeier also chipped in on the offensive side by walking and scoring in the second.
