Junior Jillian Garcia gave BVU a 1-0 lead in the first with an RBI single that scored Raveling who had singled to begin the inning. William Peace came back in the top of the second and regained the lead at 2-1 before the Beavers pushed across one run in the home half on an RBI double from Thayer to pull even at 2-2.
All of the scoring in the game happened in the first three innings as WPU would score the final two runs in the top of the third.
BVU finished the game with seven hits but stranded six runners. Garcia was the only multi-hit player for the Beavers, finishing 2-for-3 with the RBI. Raveling was 1-for-4 with an RBI and also stole a base and scored once.
Karlee Noe pitched well in a losing effort for BVU, tossing her first career complete-game and allowed the four runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out three.
Buena Vista (1-9) has a day off on Wednesday and will look to bounce back on Thursday morning when it faces Skidmore College (9 a.m.) and Lasell University (11:15 a.m.).
