Walker and Yanga are both being recognized for the first time and give BVU at least three all-conference selections in the same season for the first time since 2004-05.
Walker transferred to Buena Vista this season after playing two years at the junior college level and quickly became among the A-R-C's most versatile players. She ranked 12th in the A-R-C in scoring at 12.0ppg and also grabbed 3.4rpg, dished out 2.0apg, chalked up 1.4apg and averaged over 32.0 minutes per game. Against Simpson on Dec. 9, Walker scored 21 points and hauled in four rebounds for the first of two 20-point performances. She also added 20 points, four rebounds and two assists in the regular season finale against Loras on Feb. 21. After being held in single digits in four straight games, she followed that stretch up as one of the top players down the stretch by averaging 18.0ppg over the final three regular season contests.
Yanga made her presence felt across the league throughout her first collegiate season. The 6'0" forward averaged 11.3ppg and 4.6rpg during conference play and led the A-R-C in blocked shots at 1.7bpg. She shot over 52 percent from the field and over 72.0 percent at the free-throw line. She scored in double figures in four of the final five regular season games, including 19 points and five rebounds as BVU completed a pivotal season sweep at Luther. Prior to that, she turned in 17 points and five boards during a tight home loss to league champion Wartburg College. Earlier in the season, Yanga turned in a career-high 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting at Loras College.
Boettcher, despite just missing out on all-conference accolades, ranked 13th in the A-R-C this season in scoring at 11.8ppg and was ninth in rebounding (6.4rpg) and fifth in steals (1.9spg). She shot just under 40.0 percent from the field and missed only one free-throw in conference play (22-of-23). In a home game at home against Dubuque on Jan. 31, Boettcher scored a season-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists as BVU completed the season sweep. During the overtime victory at Central, she turned in 17 points, including three makes from long range, to go along with four rebounds.
All four players were key pieces to the team which reached 10 conference wins for the first time since 2009-10 and qualified for the conference tournament for the first time in eight seasons.
