MANKATO, Minn. (Feb. 20, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's indoor track & field team took part in the Maverick Open on Friday at Minnesota State-Mankato in its final tune-up competition before next week's conference championships.
BVU had a handful of individuals take part in both the 600m run and the mile run. Freshman
Patrick Heffernan helped lead the way with a fifth-place finish in the mile with a new personal best time of 4:33.88 which moves him into the program's top-10 list.Â
Senior
Carter Braun was the team's top finisher in what was a log jam of runners in the 600m. He took sixth overall with a season best time of 1:27.96.Â
Senior Easton Hayes narrowly missed out in what was a strong field of runners in the 60-meter dash. He posted a time of 7.14 seconds but missed out in the finals (top-8) by only one-tenth of a second. Hayes also placed 10th in the long jump.
Buena Vista is set to head to the A-R-C Championships next Friday and Saturday in Decorah and hosted by Luther College.Â
