STORM LAKE, Iowa (Feb. 11, 2026) - The Buena Vista men's basketball team buried a season-high 17 shots from downtown on Wednesday night, including 13 in the first half alone, as the Beavers rolled to an 86-71 home victory to complete the season sweep over Wartburg College.
Wartburg held an early 12-11 lead, but BVU caught fire from long range and finished the half making 13-of-23 en route to a 53-27 halftime lead. The Beavers cooled off in the second half and shot only 31.2 percent from the field overall but used a 9-of-11 effort at the free-throw line to help maintain its lead. The Knights knocked down six second half three's and shot 47 percent from the field overall but had to big of a hole to try and climb out of.
Sophomore Adam Bryte, who knocked down 6-of-11 shots from behind the arc, nailed one of the team's four in the second half with under nine minutes remaining that kept BVU in front by 26 at 77-51. The Knights had one of their biggest runs of the night which was capped by consecutive three-point buckets as they clawed back within 77-60 with just over six minutes to go. The Beavers quickly responded with seven straight points, capped by the final three-pointer of the night by junior Carter Sievers, to make it 84-60 with under four minutes left. Both teams would empty their benches down the stretch while BVU went on to win its second straight game following a four-game losing skid.
