The Spartans shot right at 50 percent from the field in both halves despite the Beavers holding them to only 6-of-21 from downtown. They were aided in the second half by going 14-of-20 from the charity stripe.
Buena Vista came out and shot 46 percent from the field in the first half but did a chunk of its scoring in the second half at the charity stripe where it converted 13-of-14 attempts and finished the game sinking 17-of-19.
Junior Carter Sievers led the way with 16 points despite being held to 1-of-7 from behind the arc. He also grabbed four rebounds and dished out six assists. Sophomore Adam Bryte buried a game-high four three-point buckets and totaled 14 points. Sophomore Jayden Brink and junior Keaton Flaherty each came off the bench to chip in with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Flaherty also grabbed a team-high six rebounds
Grady Thompson paced the Spartans (13-6, 6-4 A-R-C) with a game-high 25 points and eight boards. Jacob Williams added 17 points and Jalen Scott 14.
Buena Vista has dropped four straight games and drops to 11-9 overall (4-7 A-R-C). The team remains tied with Wartburg for sixth in the A-R-C standings and will be off until hosting Simpson College (8-11, 5-5 A-R-C) next Saturday, Feb. 7, on Alumni Day. Tip-off inside of Siebens Fieldhouse is at 4 p.m.
