PELLA, Iowa (Jan. 24, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's wrestling team had four individuals place in the top-6, including a pair of medalists, as the team competed in the second annual A-R-C Championships on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Central College.

The top-3 individuals at each weight class earn medals, and for the Beavers, freshman Ella Brown earned a runner-up finish at 207 pounds and fellow freshman Savannah Freifeld taking third at 138 pounds. Brown competed in a round-robin bracket, and would secure a first round fall to begin the day before falling to eventual champion Rewa Chababo of Wartburg College in the second round. Brown earned a bye in the final round and joins Magalie Mogiga (2024-25) as the program's highest A-R-C Championship finisher.

Freifeld was part of a full regular bracket and had herself a stellar day by going 3-1 overall after landing a first round bye. She made her way into the semifinals with an early fall in 1:14. Her bid for a championship match berth, however, came up just short as she was edged 6-4 by Wartburg's Rachel Fode. That setback didn't faze her as she bounced right back and picked up a pair of consolation victories, including her second fall of the day in the consolation semifinals, to also earn all-conference honors.

Freshmen Paige Baier and Kinalisa Lokot capped the day for the Beavers by each notching sixth-place finishes. Lokot began the day with a 10-6 decision and then after dropping a tough match in the quarterfinals, she bounced right back and won back-to-back contests, including one by fall. She is now 9-14 on the year.

Baier's lone victory of the day came in her first consolation match when she came out and earned a fall in 54 seconds.

As a team, the Beavers tallied 44 points overall and finished sixth out of the seven teams, but were only seven points back of Luther College in fourth.

Next up for the Beavers will be a quadrangular at Augsburg University on Saturday, Jan. 31. BVU will face Augsburg at 3 p.m, Morningside at 4 p.m. and the University of Dubuque at 5 p.m.
