MITCHELL, S.D. (Jan. 20, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's wrestling team was back in action Tuesday night for a triangular at Dakota Wesleyan and finished the night with a split of the two duals. The Beavers began with a 19-15 victory over Morningside before suffering a tough 18-15 loss by the host Tigers.

It was the Mustangs winning both of the two contested matches over the first five weight classes to build an early 10-0 lead. Savannah Freifeld got the scoring going for the Beavers with a technical fall before Paige Baier wins by forfeit to make it a one-point margin. Morningside picked up a fall to extend its lead to 15-9 before BVU won the final two weights by forfeit to take the four-point win.

Against DWU, there were only three contested matches overall, and the Tigers came out and notched wins in two of those three. Ella Brown picked up the only win for the Beavers with a quick first period fall that capped the final scoring. Freifeld and Stephanie Sorsby each won by forfeits.

Buena Vista is now 2-1 in duals this season. The team next competes at the A-R-C Individual Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 24. This year's event is hosted by Central College with action getting underway at 10 a.m.
