WAVERLY, Iowa (Jan. 14, 2026) - The Buena Vista women's basketball team couldn't overcome 15 made three-point shots by Wartburg College on Wednesday night as the Knights went on to hand the Beavers a tough 87-49 road loss to snap the team's four-game win streak.
Buena Vista led 17-15 after a pair of made free-throws from junior
Mary Walker with 3:14 remaining in the first quarter before the Knights closed on a 13-0 run to take a 28-17 lead to the second. Wartburg then scored the first eight points of the second, including a pair of three-point baskets before sophomore
Bradi Krager ended the 21-0 surge with a pair of free-throws.
The Knights, who made 6-of-11 from downtown in the second quarter alone, broke the game open and led 55-30 at the break. The Beavers went just 1-of-15 from the field in the third quarter and were held to only five points in the frame.
Walker finished with a team-high 13 points while Krager as well as sophomore
Tyme Boettcher added 10 points each. Krager also led the way with nine points, two assists and two blocked shots with Boettcher chipping in with eight boards.
The Beavers were held to 26.5 percent shooting overall and just 3-of-13 from behind the arc while making 14-of-17 from the charity stripe.
Katie Boulanger led Wartburg (9-6, 5-1 A-R-C) with 19 points while Carly Rich made a team-high four three's and added 12 points off the bench.
Buena Vista is now 8-7 overall (2-4 A-R-C) and returns home for the first time in over a month to host Luther College on Saturday, Jan. 17, with tip-off at 2Â p.m.
