Northwestern (IA) Wins 7-0 Non-Conference Match over Women's Tennis

STORM LAKE, Iowa (Sept. 6, 2025) - The Buena Vista women's tennis team hosted Northwestern College (IA) on Saturday morning, but the Red Raiders would go on and pick up a 7-0 non-conference victory out on the Buntrock Tennis Courts.

Northwestern (1-0) earned the doubles point by winning all three matches, including a pair of 6-1 decisions. In singles play, the Red Raiders won all six matches in straight sets while holding BVU scoreless in three.

“Northwestern has an even stronger lineup than last year,” says BVU head coach Dan Taylor. “Overall, their ladies play big, aggressive offense and it's hard to get into points a lot of times. They take the racquet out of your hand. I feel like our team did what they could today, they were just flat out overmatched, but we will take positives out of it, especially when it comes to seeing ways to improve, and how effective offense can be on a tennis court. We'll look forward to what should be a close, competitive match against Simpson on Wednesday.”

Buena Vista (0-5) will play on the road at Simpson College on Wednesday, Sept. 10 starting at 4 p.m.
