MONMOUTH, Ill. (Sept. 13, 2025) - Senior
Alyssa Cathcart gave the Buena Vista women's soccer team the early lead on Saturday afternoon at Monmouth College, but the Scots rallied to tie the match at the half and then tack on three more second half goals en route to a 4-1 non-conference win over the Beavers.
Cathcart took a pass from freshman
Addison Baucom during the 23' for her first goal of the season and third of her career to put BVU on the board first at 1-0. The lead, however, didn't last long as Monmouth came back two minutes later for a game-tying goal that resulted in a 1-1 tie at the half.
The Scots were on the offensive attack the majority of the game by registering 23 total shots and holding BVU to only three. Monmouth came out in the second half and took its first lead less than three minutes into play at 2-1. Two insurance goals came just minutes apart during the 76' and 79' respectively to essentially put the match out of reach.
Bridgett Gonzalez also added a shot (on-goal) for Buena Vista while Baucom added one shot. Mariah Hobson scored twice and led the Scots with six shots overall, including three on-goal.
Maia Jaroch went the distance in-goal for Buena Vista and finished with seven saves.
The Beavers are now 2-3-1 on the year and will return home to host the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 5:30 p.m.
